Thirty P3 pupils from Kingsland Primary School were welcomed by The JR Group to its Caledonian Court housing development for a hands-on learning experience about construction and site safety.
Gayle O’Hear, construction administration manager at The JR Group, said: “We are proud to support the communities in which we work, and initiatives like this are a great way to engage with young people and inspire future generations.
“It’s important for us to give back locally, not only through building quality homes but by creating meaningful opportunities for learning and development.
“We hope the pupils enjoyed their visit and gained valuable insight into the construction industry and the importance of safety on site.”
The visit supported the school’s ongoing construction project and included an onsite talk from the site manager, who explained the full development process—from initial groundwork to completed homes—and emphasised the importance of safety around construction zones.
Pupils were given a real-time glimpse of construction in action, including a live forklift demonstration.
The JR Group also donated materials and equipment to assist with the school’s project, including timber, spades, hard hats, high-visibility vests, and topsoil.
Depute headteacher Nicki Istephan said: “Many thanks to The JR Group for a great visit, the children and staff loved it.
“Please pass on our thanks to everyone involved, they were great with the children, and the team have been very kind with all the donations, which we greatly appreciate.”
Each pupil also received a goodie bag with Easter treats as a memento of the day.
