More than 100 customer waited in line for the doors to open at the Gala Water Retail Park site, with the new shop also bringing in 18 jobs to the local community.
To celebrate the grand opening, the Galashiels store gave away £1,500 worth of vouchers to the first 150 customers, while raffle tickets were also handed out to everyone who queued before 7.45am, with seven lucky customers winning a Tower Air Fryer and one taking home a Daewoo Double Drawer Air Fryer.
Five other customers also won the chance to take part in a 90-second supermarket sweep-style trolley dash, filling their trolleys for free.
Chris Goodwin, store manager, said: “We’re so pleased to welcome shoppers to our brand new The Food Warehouse store. Everyone was so excited for the grand opening – people started queuing from 2am.
“If you haven’t been down yet, make sure to check out our brand-new store and get your hands on some unmissable deals.”

The new store will be open from 8am to 8pm, Monday-Sunday.
